Cookie policy
This notice describes the cookies this website sets, what each one does, which ones stay off until you accept them, and how to change your choice. How we handle personal data in general is described in the privacy policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser so that the website can recognise the browser again, for example to remember a choice you made. Cookies set by this website are first-party cookies; cookies set by another service that the website loads are third-party cookies. Similar techniques, such as local storage in the browser, are covered by this notice in the same way.
Cookies this website uses
This website uses two kinds of cookies. Necessary cookies are needed for the website to work and to remember your cookie choice; they are set without asking. Statistics cookies count visits and page views so that we can see how the website is used; they stay off until you accept them.
| Category | What it is used for | Set by | Lifetime | Default |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary: cookie choice | Remembers whether you accepted or declined statistics cookies, so the banner is not shown on every page | This website, as a browser local-storage item named cowest_cookie_consent | Until you clear this website's site data in your browser | On; cannot be switched off |
| Statistics | Counts visits, pages viewed, time on page and the visitor's country, in aggregate, so that we can see which pages are read | Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare, Inc.); it uses no cookie and no persistent identifier, only a page-view beacon | No cookie is stored | Off until you accept |
This website does not use advertising cookies, social-media cookies or cookies that follow you across other websites. The anti-spam check in the enquiry form (Cloudflare Turnstile) runs inside the form page; it may hold a short-lived technical value in your browser while the check runs and does not use it to track you.
Statistics cookies and your consent
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept statistics cookies. Until you accept, no statistics cookie is set and no usage data is sent to the analytics tool; declining does not change how the website works.
If you accept, Cloudflare Web Analytics (provided by Cloudflare, Inc.) records page views and basic technical data about the browser, in aggregate; its script is loaded only after your consent and it uses no cookies or persistent identifiers.
How to change your choice
You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, which clears the stored choice and shows the banner again. Deleting this website's site data in your browser also brings the banner back on your next visit.
Your browser also lets you block or delete cookies for all websites; its help pages explain how. If you block necessary cookies, your cookie choice cannot be remembered and the banner is shown again.
